This is my collaborative creature. We had to draw a head for are creature then fold the paper and pass is to another person so they could draw the body and then do the same thing again and pass it on to another person so they could draw the tail. My creature is called Grassebearilla because it had the head of a grasshopper, the body of a hairy bear and a legs of a gorilla.
I am a Year 6 student at Saint Patrick's School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 7 and my teacher is Mr Bell.

On the 13th of November we went to the Manaiakalani film festival . Our school went on 2 buses to get to the movie house to watch all 23 films. Three other schools came with us to watch the movies and those schools were Panmure Bridge,Tamaki College and Point England. We went to the Hoyts Movie Theatre in Sylvia park. The 1st movie we watched was from room eight from St. Patrick's School. The movie was about nude food. it was my favourite movie because it was funny. Our movie was about how to make a jam sandwich. After we watched all of the movies we went back to school. It was very fun. I am very excited for the next Manaiakalani fim festival.

Planting our vegetable garden
Planting our vegetable garden Last week we planted vegetables in our class garden. Before we started to plant Mrs Agnew had us examine the plants and I noticed that some of the plants were starting to die. We had kept them in the classroom for nearly a week because we couldn't plant them because it had been too windy and rainy.
They needed water.
We took the plants to the garden and we had to make the soil soft by turning the soil over and breaking it into pieces. The we dug little holes to fit our seedling in. We took the seedlings out by gently hitting the bottom of the tray. Then we gently turned the plant upside down and carefully removed the container from the soil and plant.
I planted courgette and made sure the soil was firm around the plant. I hope it grows now that it can be watered. Finally we spread broken eggshells over the plants to prevent snails from eating them.
It is important to plant vegetables at school and home because it is cheaper to get fresh, nutritious food.

Saving money
Today we got a visitor from the ASB bank. Her name is Nicky and she works there. She taught us how to save money while we're still young. She first asked us what are dreams for the future.I said I wanted to be a good swimmer but i also want to be a gamer. She then told us about a story boy who took it really seriously. He wanted to be a rugby player but his parents had no money. Then he went to ten of his neighbours and asked them if he could do any errands for them and every now every Tuesday after school he goes to his neighbours houses and out the trash for them for five dollars. After that she told us that some students come out of college with a sixty Thousand dollar loan. She said that to get the things you need to make money you need to spend money and she showed us an example. She said you made a lemonade stand but you spend three dollars on sugar and two dollars on plastic cups but you earn ten dollars so your profit is five dollars since you needed to pay the money spent on doing the lemonade stand. Then Nicky wrote cash vertically on the board. She said that C stands for clear goal which meant what you wanted,A stands for action which means how your gonna do it,S stands for save which you probably already know what it means, H stands for how long is it going to take.We needed to save up for a one hundred dollar phone and we save ten dollar a week so that means it will take ten weeks. Nicky then said that putting your money in the bank is better than putting money in a moneybox or a piggy bank because the bank gives you interest. She said we should start training while we're young because she wanted to be a ballerina but she started too soon. I learned a lot today.

Making Tukutuku Mats
wharenui on the walls. A wharenui is a meeting house. I made a tukutuku mat and I think
I did a pretty good job. To make it we needed a cardboard loom and strips of black and red
paper. We had to weave the strips in and out and secure them on the edge of the loom with glue.

Smart Relationship Qualities
This week of Cyber smart we made structures out of Marshmallow and spaghetti.
Mrs Collins challenged us to make the tallest tower we could make as a group.
We didn't have much resources since we only had 8 Marshmallow's and 12 spaghetti noodles which were raw.
We started off by planing how to build the tower and then we started building.
Our original plan didn't so we had to start again.
Our tower was 8 cm tall because we didn't have enough time but we showed some great teamwork.

My Digital Footprint
My footprint |
This is my Digital Footprint and Mrs Collins gave me 45%, so its an ok footprint. I have 13 reds and eleven green. We have been working on this for a while now. I have 24 games on my footprint but there are lots more since I did not have enough to write them all down. A digital footprint shows how well you use the internet, like too many games is not good.

Catholic Schools'day
Catholic Schools'Day On Tuesday it was Catholic Schools' Day. That means all Catholic schools in New Zealand do something special because we are Catholic. St. Ignatius and St Pius X schools came to celebrate it with us. We went to Mass at Church. There were three priests and the entire Church was full. We sang lots of songs and most of the songs we've sung before. After Mass we went back to the canopy to have our lunch. There were so many children and the noise was incredibly loud. We had our lunch inside the classroom while St.Ignatius and St.Pius X had their lunches outside because they were so hungry to move. When the bell rang St.Ignatius was already going back to their school while St.Pius X was playing on the grass and on the playground. We were going to do tabloids sports but it rained so we decided to go back to class and have free time.

TIKA,PONO,AROHA We have been learning about how Jesus respected the Tapu [sacredness}of people. We listened to the story about the Samaritan woman who talked to Jesus, even though Jews hated Samaritans and were not allowed to speak to them. Jesus asked her for some water which shows that he respected her.
Also in the story of Jesus healing the leper, he got close to the man with leprosy which he could have got sick from. He felt pity for the man and healed him. These stories show us how we must treat other people, even those who are different to us. This will mean that we treat others like Jesus did, with Tika (being just and doing the right thing), Pono (being truthful) and Aroha (loving).
I show Aroha when I help Nino when he doesn't understand something. I show Pono when i I tell the truth and I show Tika when I stick up for someone is being hurt.

St.Patrick's Day
On the 18th of March it was St.Patrick's day. We went to Mass and sang beautiful songs and Father Andrew talked about St. Patrick. The mass lasted about 1 hour, and then after that we went to do Jump Jam under the canopy. Then we sat down to get into our groups. We were ready to play the games. My favourite game was "Capture the Flag" with Mr. Bell. After the games we watched a little video about St. Patrick in Room 6. When I got home I was exhausted.
