Water Skills for Life-
When our teacher Mr Bell told us that we were having swimming lessons, Everyone was so excited. I wasn’t as excited because I already have swimming lessons but it would definitely still be fun
We first had to get ready. Students with hair reaching their shoulders had to buy swimming caps. The swimming caps were to prevent their hair from falling into the water and clogging the drain.
The Students bought all the items over the weekend. Some people didn’t buy them yet because they probably needed to save money or something. But they still went to watch the others.
The Boys and the Girls are separated for obvious reasons. The boys always went first which means My friends and I had to change first. The girls went to Room 8 to do more work.
We had to change in the classroom which caused a whole lot of problems. People’s butts getting shown, People getting whipped, Girls who sneaked out of room 8 to peek, etc.
Anyways after we got changed we had to sit down on the ground in a line. Once the bus came we got up and started to walk. The cement was wet and felt uncomfortable, But a swimming pool probably was more watery than wet cement.
On the bus, It was loud and I mean LOUD. People were singing and talking and shouting. My partner Justin and I just talked the entire trip. The swimming pool we went to was called Clm the Bays. The building was pretty large but the swimming pool itself was quite small.
We put our towels on the bench which was very wet and split up into three groups. The first group were the people who had no idea how to swim. The second group were people who could swim but weren’t that good at it. The third group was for the people who knew how to swim well. The third one is my group.
Group 3 swam in the 5th lane. Our teacher, who I forgot her name, was kind of strict but she taught us the basics well. She taught us how to kick in the water properly and how to use a swimming board. The first stroke we learned was freestyle which is the easiest stroke unless you prefer backstroke.
I was feeling pretty confident because I had already done freestyle thousands of times in my swimming lessons. It was pretty easy to be honest. At the end of the first lesson we swam freestyle about 4 feet. After doing freestyle we went on top of the wall to do Manu’s and bombs.
The next week or so was just the same thing over and over again slowly improving freestyle. The Second week was about practicing backstroke. After Finishing backstroke, the class learned that the last 3 days were about doing fun stuff like riding on Kayaks. I think we are riding Kayaks. We might just do more swimming practice.
Room 7 isn’t quite finished with swimming lessons. We still have a lot to go. I don’t feel that satisfied after doing Freestyle and Backstroke for Two weeks straight, But I’m still happy I did it. I got to talk to my friends a lot. I also want to point out Justin and eldrich. Even though they couldn’t touch the bottom of the pool and they struggled to swim. They tried their hardest to keep up with the group. Room 7 is waiting patiently for the next 3 sessions. I guess we just have to do work for now.
Swimming Is Lessons are done-
The 3 sessions are finished. They were all about the more fun stuff like doing cannonballs and Riding boats. Riding the boats was really fun. We first had to get into the boat. The swim instructor told us to get in one at a time otherwise the boat would capsize. The first person who came in sat on the right side of the boat, The second person sat on the left. This was to balance out the boat.
We learned how to stay on the boat even in rough waters. After that, we learned how to get out of the boat in water. We rolled backwards into the water to be safer somehow, I don’t know we just did it. The other 2 sessions were just more practice. That basically sums up the 2 weeks of Swimming lessons.
